Almira Havic, a cleaner stole my elderly mum’s jewellery in 2016. These were items handed down in the family and mum is still very upset about it. Almira also cleaned my place. When I looked through my jewellery the only 2 gold items I owned had also been stolen. One was the necklace my dad gave me when I had my first and only child.
We reported the thefts from our homes to Senior Constable Shane Proctor. It seemed that Almira was known to the officers that we spoke to and they were certain that Almira committed the thefts. Almira was the only person who had been in both our homes.
One of mum’s items was a gold shamrock made by my father’s grandfather from a lump of gold from working on the goldfields. He made one for each of his 3 daughters. I hoped to pass that to my own daughter.
Since the thefts we have not seen or heard from Almira and she also stopped cleaning for other people we know. Mum is old and frail. Almira helped her get ready when she collapsed and an ambulance was on the way.
